Recovery In Christ is a 12-Step Ministry Designed to Impact People

Toward Living Life Fully-Dependent on Jesus Christ

a ministry of Glen Burnie Baptist Church in partnership with the Arundel Baptist Association

Recovery in Christ is a twelve step program that will allow you to find freedom from the chains of addiction through the power of Jesus Christ and His teaching. The program is designed to help you gain: Freedom, Forgiveness, and Direction for your life, both now and for the future.

Twelve steps of progress. Learn how to turn old, helpless destructive ways into a new direction, a new meaning, and a new purpose. Learn how to overcome the temptations, the addictions, the disappointments, and the discriminations of the world. You are loved. You have value. Come and find it.

The class will be an active support group for one another as you walk and talk and grow together in Christ. It is recovery. It is hope. It is healing. It is time to become the new person Christ wants you you to be. Learn the principles to freedom in Christ. Become the helpful, hopeful, productive citizen God desires you to be.

Foty Namo is an experienced facilitator of “Recovery In Christ,” having led classes at both Ordnance Road and Jennifer Road county detention centers, as well as in both the men’s and women’s units at the Jessup Correctional Institution. The Lord has called Brother Foty to offer “Recovery In Christ” outside-the-walls to both those returning to civilian life as well as others in the general public who are struggling with addiction.

Classes take place at Glen Burnie Baptist Church on Sunday evenings from 6-8 p.m.. The classes result in life-changing spiritual formation for those who participate. All are welcome. Please call the church at 410.766.2588 or click here to email  with any questions and to register. This will allow us to plan and prepare for your coming.

Recovery In Christ” is in need of ministry volunteers in five (5) critical areas:

  • Prayer Team

  • Mentors

  • Research Team

  • Teachers

Prayer Team—7-12 ministry volunteers are needed to pray daily for this ministry, so the Lord would bless it and multiply it and that all the glory, honor, praise and thanks would be directed to Him.

Mentors—4-6 ministry volunteers are needed to provide encouragement and support for those who participate.

Research Team—3-4 ministry volunteers are needed to assist in gathering information that will provide resources to minister more fully to those who participate.

Teachers—1-2 ministry volunteers are needed in the classroom to assist in facilitating learning and dialogue sessions.

Drivers—3-4 ministry volunteers are needed to drive the ministry van, providing transportation to and from the church for participants.

Message from the Director:

What a mighty God we serve!

Recovery In Christ” allows the Lord to show His mighty power through the lives and ministry of His servants. Would you pray about serving Him in this ministry?

If you or someone you know would be interested in being a ministry volunteer with “Recovery In Christ” you may sign up on the sheet provided or you can contact Julie at Glen Burnie Baptist Church (410.766.2588 or click here to email).

In recent years, Henry Blackaby wrote about “seeing where God is at work and joining Him.” Long ago, Matthew wrote about something his friend, Jesus, said . . . “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.” I believe that Jesus’ words are still true for Anne Arundel County and for us.

Would you join God where He is at work right here where we are? Would you prayerfully consider signing up as a ministry volunteer with “Recovery In Christ”?

Thank you and may God bless you as you serve Him!

Brother Foty
